Zhelev Elected President of Balkan Political Club*

Former Bulgarian president Zhelyu Zhelev was elected today president of the newly established Balkan Political Club in Sheraton Sofia.

Many dignitaries from all over Balkans took part at the inauguration of the club, among them former Turkish president Suleiman Demirel, former Romanian president Emil Konstantinesku and current one Ion Iliesku, former Macedonian president Kiro Gligorov and many others ministers, prime ministers and MPs from the region.

The ex Bulgarian president greeted the participants in the club emphasizing how important is regional cooperation for the entire region. The term of Zhelev is three years. It is widely expected Balkan Political Club to become the largest and the most influential non-governmental organization in the region.
