Svetlana Boyanova, Bulgarian Deputy Agriculture Minister, has been exonerated from suspicions of abuse of power and will remain at the post.

The announcement was made Wednesday for the media by Agriculture Minister, Miroslav Naydenov, who spoke before the start of the regularly scheduled meeting of the cabinet.

Naydenov said the decision was taken based on information from the probe in the activities of his Deputy, adding Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, had accepted the results and confirmed Boyanova is keeping the post.

On May 18, a wave of reshuffles swept Bulgaria's government with Borisov announcing the next day a follow-up in the agriculture ministry in a bid to improve EU funds absorption,

A week ago, within a matter of a couple of hours, the government saw the resignation of Transport Minister Alexander Tsvetkov, the resignation of Deputy Economy Minister in charge of energy Mariy Kosev, as well as the finalization of the dismissal of National Social Security Institute head Hristina Mitreva.

The so-called "follow-up" was largely connected to Boynova over the said probe, generated by a complaint that she had committed a violation by giving permission to use fertile farming land for a photovoltaic park.

The probe confirmed such change in the status of the land did take place, but the decision was made by a committee, headed by Boyanova, during a meeting she did not attend.
