Sofia Witnesses New Bank Vault Robbery

A bank safety vault has been robbed once again in the Bulgarian capital Sofia, this time in the Lyulin district, the Interior Ministry's press center informs Wednesday.

The call to the police was placed at 8:20 am, but it is still unclear, when the robbery occurred. The police are at the crime scene, searching and checking the area.

According to Darik radio, the vault is owned by Raiffeisen Bank. It did not have overnight security guards, only cameras. The steel door had been cut, and was discovered by employees reporting to work in the morning.

26 small and 12 large safety boxes have been broken in.

A private safety vault was robbed in downtown Sofia on May 2 when 509 boxes were busted. The size of the damages in missing cash and valuables remain unknown, but the owner of the vault, Borislav Ralchev, 51, is under arrest for illegal bank activities.
