Bulgarian Customs Bust Heroin Valued at BGN 4 M

Bulgarian Customs officers, checking the ferry at the Danube port of Vidin, have detained 30.5 kilos of heroin in the gas tank of an automobile.

The information was reported Monday by the Bulgarian Customs Agency.

The car, with tags from the northwestern city of Vratsa, had been searched on May 22, when exiting the country, based on risk analysis.

The heroin inside the gas tank had been divided in 60 packages and was of high quality – very pure. Its value, according to prices established by the Bulgarian Court, is estimated at BGN 4.3 M.

The driver, a Bulgarian national, had been issued a citation. The authorities are investigating the case.
