Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Simeon Djankov, is leaving Saturday on an official visit to the town of Mikulcice in the Czech Republic.

Djankov will take part in the traditional fair and largest gathering of Bulgarians from Central Europe – the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Austria, Romania and the Baltic Republics.

The fair honors Bulgarian-born brothers St. St. Cyril and Methodius – the creators of the Cyrillic alphabet. The official holiday in Bulgaria, dedicated to the brothers, the Slavic culture and script is May 24.

The festivities in Central Europe are held in Mikulcice since it is believed this is where Methodius was buried. There is a monument honoring the brothers, which Djankov is to visit during his trip.

The Finance Minister will also have meeting with local officials – the Deputy Regional Governor and the Mayor of Mikulcice.
