At least 73 people, mostly military cadets, were killed by twin bombings near Pakistan's northwestern city of Charsadda early on Friday.

The Tehreek-e-Taliban group has claimed responsibility for the attack, which they perpetrated as a first act of revenge for bin Laden's death, according to Pakistan's Dunya TV.

The attacked were members of the Frontier Constabulary at Shabqadar Fort in the town of Charsadda as they were preparing for their graduation ceremony, Liaqat Khan, the police chief in nearby Peshawar, told New York Times.

At least 115 people have been reported injured by the twin bombings.
