Bulgaria has undertaken all necessary measures to counter any possible terrorist threat after the murder of Osama Bin Laden, according to Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

Tsvetanov, who was on a visit Friday to the Black Sea city of Varna, said the police have increased coordination and cooperation with Bulgarian special services and with its European Union and NATO partners.

The Minister pointed out that currently all countries in the world exchange information swiftly and in real time, which helps a great deal in the prevention of terrorist acts and neutralization of extremist groups.

Osama Bin Laden, the al-Qaeda founder and leader, was on the top of the US most wanted list since the attacks on New York and Washington in 2001. He was killed Monday by US special forces in northern Pakistan.

On the subject of securing safety of vacationers at beach resorts during the summer season, Tsvetanov explained that, as it has been every time, policemen from inside the country will be deployed to the Black Sea coast.

"This year we will also have, once again, Romanian police teams working at our resorts. This is becoming a good practice now; we used it at winter resorts in partnership with Greek and German police. I have further proposed police patrols to come to Bulgaria from every country sending tourists here," the Minister is quoted saying.
