The unemployment rate in Bulgaria is going down for the second month in a row, according to Social Policy and Labor Minister, Totyu Mladenov.

Mladenov, who spoke Saturday in an interview for Darik radio, reported that in April 2011, the unemployment rate stood at 9.3% (344 099 unemployed individuals), which is by 0.23% lower compared to March, 2011.

"The unemployed, who register themselves in labor bureaus, represent the only true profile of unemployment in the country; this is the sole criteria for the latter's levels, not poll statistics, which are not accurate," the Minister pointed out.

According to Mladenov, the sectors with most job openings are the manufacturing industry, tourism, car trade and car repairs.

The sectors where unemployment is on the rise are construction, retail and services.
