US Ambassador to Bulgaria James Warlick has visited the only Bulgarian nuclear power plant Kozloduy a day after a minor radiation incident was reported.

Warlick together with other senior diplomats from the US Embassy in Sofia were welcomed in Kozloduy by the plant CEO Kostadin Dimitrov, who confirmed that there have been no consequences of the Tuesday's radiation incident.

The US diplomats visited the command centers of the 440-MW Units 2 and 3, which are no longer operational, and the 1000-MW Unit 6.

Warlick's visit to the Kozloduy NPP also comes after a Wikileaks release of US diplomatic cables showed an incident there in 2006 was kept secret by the Bulgarian government, and also after senior Westinghouse executives were in Sofia with interest in the Kozloduy plant.
