Parliamentary chair Tsetska Tsacheva will be Bulgaria's official representative at the beatification ceremony of Pope John-Paul II.

The event, which will take place on May 1 at the Vatican, will be conducted by current Pope Benedict XVI. The Vatican credits the late Pope with the miraculous cure of a nun said to have had Parkinson's Disease The beatification will be attended by heads of states and governments from all over the world, heads of international organizations and other officials

The process of beatification, or declaring the late pontiff to be "blessed", is a crucial step towards making him a saint. John Paul II died in 2005 after a papacy of nearly 27 years.
