Bulgaria's former Tsar and Prime Minister, Simeon Saxe-Coburg, has been invited to the British Royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton, which is to take place on April 29, it was revealed Saturday.

"Tsar Simeon II and Her Majesty Queen Margarita of the Bulgarians" are among the foreign Royal families invited. The Bulgarian Royal couple is listed 5th, just after the Prince and Princess of Asturias, Bahrain's heir to the throne, Prince Phillip Saxe-Coburg of Belgium and his wife, and the Sultan of Brunei.

The former Bulgarian Tsar is related to Queen Elizabeth II and the Belgian King Albert II.

Simeon Saxe-Coburg is an important political and royal figure in Bulgaria. During his reign as the Tsar of Bulgaria from 1943 to 1946 he was a minor, the monarchical authority being exercised over the kingdom on his behalf by a regency.

In 1946 the monarchy was overthrown as a consequence of a greatly manipulated referendum won by the communist republicans. Simeon went into exile. Fifty-five years later, on 6 April 2001, Simeon resumed the role of leader of the nation upon taking office as Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria from July 2001 until August 2005.

The Royal wedding invitation list released Saturday morning also confirmed other famous names like musician Elton John and director Guy Ritchie, soccer star David Beckham and wife Victoria, Mr. Bean actor Rowan Atkinson, as well as many other celebrities
