The right-wing Union of Democratic Forces, UDF, has at least 4 candidates to enter the presidential race in the fall, which is an unprecedentedly high number.

The information was reported by UDF leader, Martin Dimitrov, in a Monday interview for the TV channel TV7.

The final nomination is going to be announced by the end of April – beginning of May. Dimitrov says UDF is hoping to have a joint ballot with the other right-wing party and their ally in the so-called Blue Coalition – Democrats for Strong Bulgaria, DSB.

The UDF leader pointed out there is no way the right-wing would seek a joint candidature with the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, party, despite the fact all three  - GERB, UDF, DSB, are members of the European People's Party, EPP. Dimitrov explained this possibility had been dropped after GERB's announcement they will have their own nomination and would not negotiate with other political formations.

Polls give a good chance to Bulgaria's former Foreign Minister and current Member of the European Parliament, Nadezhda Neynski, formerly Mihaylova, and ex President, Petar Stoyanov.
