Bulgaria FinMin: I Was No Target for Fraudsters

Bulgarian Minsiter of Finance Simeon Djankov dispelled information that he has been among those unfortunate to be targeted by telephone fraudsters.

Friday a show on bTV claimed that an associate of Bulgaria's Djankov, who picked up his phone, even got tricked into paying BGN 4,000 to a fake awyer.

The fraudsters had allegedly told her that Djankov's father caused a car crash, and the money is needed to pay a bribe to get him out of being prosecuted.

"I can tell you that yesterday's "news" is completely false," said Djankov Saturday.

He described the information as "somewhat silly bad joke," which sadly involved people long passed away.
