Bulgarian 'Octopus' Caters to Small Businesses, Ordinary Folk

Controversial Bulgarian businessman Aleksei Petrov, currently tried for a number of offences such as money laundering, has slammed Bulgarian political life and banking.

The Economic Initiative Union, of which Petrov is CEO, announced Tuesday it will back the protests scheduled for April 18 against banks.

Petrov more specifically slammed the freezing of assets of the cities of Haskovo and Veliko Tarnovo due to debt to companies.

The businessman, who has not hid his political aspirations, characterized this as "political terror."

"Small businesses helps feed ordinary people, while large enterprises feed politicians," quipped Petrov, observing that that has been the case during the modern history of Bulgaria.
