The date of the presidential and local elections is going to be decided on through a dialogue with the Members of the Parliament, President, Georgi Parvanov, announced Tuesday.

Parvanov spoke after holding earlier consultations with the main political parties on appointing members of the Central Electoral Commission, CEC.

Parvanov met consecutively with representatives of ruling center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, party, Coalition for Bulgaria, led by the main opposition formation, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, the ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms, DPS, the far-right, nationalist Ataka, the right-wing Blue Coalition and the the National Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NMSP) of former Tsar and PM, Simeon Saxe-Coburg with the latter taking part because even though they are not represented in the Parliament, they have two MEPS.

DPS and the "Blues" have raised asked that the number of CEC members for each party must be decided not based on the number of their MPs, but on the ratio of the results from the general elections in the summer of 2009. For this reason, the right wing have signed the protocol from the consultations with "particular opinion."

The political parties proposed different dates to hold the elections in the fall and failed to agree on one. For this reason the issue will now be debated in the Parliament.
