In 2010, Bulgaria has reduced the most its expenses for defense, compared to all other countries in Central and Eastern Europe, CEE.

The data comes from a report of the Stockholm-based International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), cited Monday by the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR.

The report shows that last year Bulgaria reduced military expenses by nearly one third (28%).

Latvia is next with 26%, while Albania, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania and Slovakia all have reduced defense expenses by slightly over 10%.

SIPRI further notes that the largest military cuts globally have been in countries of Central and Eastern Europe, explaining the trend with the effects of the economic crisis and lack of funds.
