Mexico: Bulgarian Lady Gruesome Death in Cancun Suicide

The Bulgarian 25-year-old woman, who jumped to her death from the nineteenth floor of a luxurious hotel at the Mexican resort of Cancun, has committed suicide, Mexican authorities confirmed.

Galina Chaneva, born in the town of Karnobat, was a student at Sofia University Kliment Ohridski and was about to graduate in a few months. Her parents are in shock and say they have no explanation for this tragedy.

"She was full of energy, I can't believe she has decided to put an end to her life," her mother said.

Just two months ago Galina lived in Sofia at the apartment of an acquaintance of her family, but then moved to a rented place, which she shared with another two girls.

The girl spoke with her mother on the phone almost every day and the last time she heard from her – a few days before the tragic accident – she did not even mention she is going abroad, let alone to such a far away destination as Mexico.

One of Galina's roommates told her parents that she has left for Mexico with a man named Mincho, who even bought her a plane ticket. The girl said the couple was accompanied by her daughter, which later on turned out to be a fiction.

From the very beginning the investigation into Galina's death has been plagued by suspicions that she might have been murdered by one of the Bulgarians with whom she was in the fatal night on April 1-2. All the more so that neighbors from the hotel said they heard screams and fighting that night.

The officials at the reception desk at Emerald Residential Tower and Spa hotel however said that on her way to the apartment Galina threatened to commit suicide unless they call a shrink.

When he came however it was too late.
