The Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament from the European Socialist Party, Kristian Vigenin, is the new rapporteur of the EP on Macedonia.

The news was reported Tuesday by the Bulgarian news agency BTA.

On Wednesday, Vigenin is to present before all MEPs a draft resolution on Macedonia's progress, prepared by the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy.

The draft resolution calls for the immediate launch of talks about Macedonia joining the European Union and notes the fact that, regretfully, disputes with neighboring Greece about the country's name continue to block the road of Macedonia to EU membership.

EP is asking for an end of the political bickering between the cabinet and the opposition and voices alarm about corruption, media freedom and the judicial system reform in Macedonia.

Vigenin is also the Chair of the European Socialists workgroup for EU enlargement through the Western Balkans.
