Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry has issued a call urging all Bulgarian citizens to leave Libya where dictator Muammar Gaddafi has been fighting a popular uprising for weeks, while also facing international air and missile strikes to enforce a no-fly zone.

The ministry further announced that Ukrainian ship "Konstantin Olshanski" will land at the Libyan capital Tripoli on Monday, and that will have the capacity to evacuate about 500 people, including Bulgarian citizens.

The Foreign Ministry in Sofia urges all Bulgarian citizens wishing to be evacuated to contact the Bulgarian Embassy in Tripoli no later than noon on April 2.

It warns that the Ukrainian ships will probably be the last chance for organized evacuation from Libya after the Bulgarian authorities organized several evacuation flights to the North African country in March.

The Bulgarian Embassy in Tripoli has remained the only functioning embassy of an EU member state in the Libyan capital.
