April 1 is April Fool's Day and we have all reasons to believe it has turned into the Day of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgarian (GERB) party.

The statement was made Friday by the Deputy Chair of the Parliamentary group of the major opposition formation – the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), Angel Naydenov, who read a declaration of the left wing in plenary hall.

The declaration lists all promises that the GERB cabinet made and never fulfilled, along with contradicting statements of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, and his ministers.

Naydenov pointed as the most recent examples, Borisov saying the military operation in Libya was an adventure, and just hours later the ministers of defense and foreign affairs declaring it as the right thing to do or Economy and Energy Minister, Traicho Traikov, blaming Lukoil Bulgaria for the skyrocketing fuel prices and the PM defending the company.

The BSP Member of the Parliament stated that one of GERB's election promises has been maintaining jobs and new job openings while in the last 18 months the number of employed people went down by 200 000 and the one of the registered unemployed individuals went up by 10 000.

Other unfulfilled promises, according to Naydenov, are those to farmers, regarding their subsidies; the commitment to establish in July 2010, a mechanism for the increase of minimum wages and annual update of retirement pensions by taking into account insurance contributions and inflation.

"It is not wise to have Bulgaria ruled by people cheerfully cracking jokes. I appeal to GERB MPs to listen carefully to their PM recent statement of regretting to have formed a cabinet and fix this mistake," Naydenov declared.

Earlier Friday, also in the Parliament, members of the youth organization of BSP gave Deputy PM, and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, a Pinocchio doll as a symbol of GERB's lies and also reminded him about some of the unfulfilled promises.

Dressed in T-shirts, portraying Borisov as Pinocchio, with a sign saying: "April Fool's Day – Day of GERB," the young people handed out brochures with the same caricature and a list of outstanding promises.
