Nikolay Mihaylov, Bulgaria's national goalkeeper and hot young prospect, seriously considers returning to Liverpool.

Mihaylov, 22, was signed by the Reds in 2007, but was loaned out to Dutch club FC Twente in a bid to secure a work permit. The loan was then replaced by a permanent contract, but the talented youngster has been in a spectacular shape recently, becoming Bulgaria's regular national goalkeeper, and has now claimed Liverpool still has the option to take him back.

"Liverpool are a huge club," he told the Bulgarian Darik Radio, as cited by ESPN. "It wasn't possible to get a work visa when I went there but now there'll be no such problems because I'm playing regularly in the national team."

Asked about Liverpool's option to re-sign him, Mihaylov said: "I think it's absolutely real. The option was made when Rafa Benitez was in charge."

Mihaylov claimed Liverpool will soon be in need of a new goalkeeper, as Pepe Reina, the current first team regular, considers a move to Spain.

Nikolay Mihaylov is the son of Borislav Mihaylov, a legendary Bulgarian goalkeeper, the player with the most international appearances for Bulgaria and member of UEFA's executive committee. Nikolay's grandfather, Bisser Mihaylov, also used to be the country's international goalkeeper.
