Bulgaria Producer Price Inflation on the Rise Again

Following an insignificant slow-down at the beginning of the year, Bulgaria's producer price inflation accelerated to 13.8% in February, up from 12.1% the previous month, data of the statistics office showed on Wednesday.

Month-on-month, prices for total industry increased 1.6% over the previous month and 13.8% on an annual basis. Inflation for total industry gained 1.7% in January.

Producer prices on the domestic market, which does not include exporters, marked a 1.1% increase month-on-month and rose 12.5% on an annual basis after a 11.1% increase in January.

Over the last twelve months prices in quarrying increased 2.6% and in manufacturing, prices climbed 13,1%. Production costs for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply were also up by 10.4%.

Prices involved in the manufacture of basic metals and metal products went up by 31.3 over the same period last year.

Factory prices for the manufacture of food products went up by 13.7%, year-on-year in February, while prices of manufacture of tobacco products decreased by 10.5%.
