The supermarket chains "Piccadilly" and "Lidl" have opened new stores in the country, the companies announce.

The German "Lidl" entered for the first time the Black Sea city of Burgas by opening three stores at once and replacing the facilities of the "Plus" chain, which were purchased by Lidl.

Piccadilly opened its 5th supermarket in Sofia, replacing the "Elemag" store on "Kozyak" street. The company also has 10 smaller stores in the capital known as "Piccadilly Express."

"Lidl" now has 30 stores in Bulgaria. "Piccadilly" has 26 supermarkets, 12 "Piccadilly Express" stores and one hypermarket - "Tempo," which is located in the capital Sofia.

In the beginning of March, the Belgian company Delhaize acquired 100% of the shares of Serbian Delta Maxi Group, owner of the Piccadilly retail store chain operating in Bulgaria.

Delta Maxi (Delta Holding) runs some 450 stores in 5 countries in South-Eastern Europe. With the move, Delhaize added to its already-existing Greek and Romanian branches.
