Price of natural gas in Bulgaria is going up by 4.5% in the second quarter of the year, according to Angel Semerdzhiev, Head of the country's energy watchdog.

The Chair of the State Commission for Energy and Water Regulation (DKEVR) promised to keep looking for opportunities to lower this percentage, but explains the trend of fuel prices going up on international markets would for sure affect gas prices in Bulgaria.

The heating prices will remain the same.

Semerdzhiev pointed out regular payments of consumers to the Sofia "Toplofikatsiya" heating utility are a must in order to keep the bills the same, adding the proposal of the utility to introduce equal-amount payments every 12 months is being examined.

DKEVR would also probe information that "Toplofikatsiya" is not paying interest to customers who have been overcharged.
