Sweden: Low Radioactivity Heading to North America

Small and harmless quantities of radioactive particles from the crippled Japanese Fukushima Daiichi NPP are heading towards North America, according to Lars-Erik de Geer, head Swedish Defense Research Institute.

De Geer stated that citing data from a network of international monitoring stations. He underlined that the levels were not dangerous for people, the Radio Sweden said.

On Thursday, helicopters were used by the Japanese authorities as a measure of a last resort to pour water on two of the reactors of the damaged nuclear power plant. Japanese police reported that 5 178 are confirmed dead and another 8 606 people are still missing.
