Bulgaria Registers January Export Growth to Non-EU Countries

In January 2011, the Bulgarian exports to third countries increased by 74.1% compared to January 2010 and amounted to BGN 1.3 B.

The data was released by the National Statistics Institute Monday.

The main trade partners of Bulgaria were Turkey, China, Russia, Serbia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Singapore, forming 56.4% of the total exports to non-EU countries

The exports to South Africa, China, Kazakhstan and Bosnia and Herzegovina increased significantly. Falls were reported in exports to Peru, Syria, Iran, Republic of Korea and Brazil.

In January 2011, Bulgarian imports from third countries increased by 37.0% compared to the corresponding month of the previous year and amounted to BGN 1.4 B (at CIF prices).

The most significant growths were reported in imports from Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, South Africa and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The largest decreases were observed in imports from Peru and Syria.

The foreign trade balance of Bulgaria (export FOB - import CIF) with third countries in January 2011 was negative and amounted to BGN 94.2 M. while at FOB /FOB prices (after elimination of transport and insurance costs on imports), it was positive and reached BGN 9.1 M.

In January 2011, the Bulgaria's exports to third countries, distributed according to the Standard International Trade Classification, increased the most in the sectors "Animal and Vegetable Oils, Fats and Waxes"," Manufactured Goods Classified mainly by Material", "Mineral Fuels, Lubricants and Related Materials.".

The most notable fall was in the "Miscellaneous Manufactured Articles" sector.

The largest growths in imports from third countries were reported in the "Animal and Vegetable Oils, Fats and Waxes" sector and the most significant falls were in the "Crude Materials, Inedible (except fuel)" sector.

In January 2011, the total value of exported goods both to EU and non-EU countries was over BGN 3.1 B, a nearly 73% increase compared to January 2010.
