Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) Becomes 10 Years Old!

Bulgaria's largest English-language media Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) has become 10 years old as of 00:00 CET on Friday, March 11, 2011!

Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) was founded in 2001 by Bulgarian journalist, businessman, and public relations expert, Maxim Behar. It was formally launched on March 11, 2001.

The glamorous formal party for the 10th birthday of Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency), in which a number of representatives of the diplomatic corps in Sofia, the Bulgarian government, the business, sector, and the media joined the Publishers and Editorial Board, was held on Monday, March 7, 2011, in the Radisson Blu Hotel in the Bulgarian capital.

At the 10th birthday party of Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency), the Publishers and Editorial Staff awarded Kristalina Georgieva, EU Commissioner for humanitarian aid, for having been elected "Bulgaria's Personality in the News 2010" by YOU, our readers from all around the world!

In its first decade (10 years = 3 652 days = 5 259 487 minutes), Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) published 126 096 articles, its real time news website recorded more than 31 000 000 unique visits, and more than 106 000 000 page views!

Novinite.com's online daily newspaper, The Sofia Morning News (called Bulgarian Breaking News at the time), was launched on June 1, 2001. Its subscription figures - and that of The Sofia Weekly - each near 30 000.

The 1st news article ever published in Novinite.com was: "Radisson SAS Opens In Sofia" (Sunday, March 11, 2001).

Novinite.com's 10 000th news article was: "Israeli PM Ariel Sharon Won't Allow Ultra-Orthodox Parties to Rejoin Coalition" (Wednesday, May 22, 2002).

Novinite.com's 50 000th news article was: "King's Party: Saxe-Coburg May Not Head Next Cabinet" (Thursday, July 14, 2005)

On Sunday, December 21, 2008, Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) published its 100 000th news article (paradoxically, it was about Novinite.com itself): "Novinite.com Becomes Media Partner of Invest in Bulgaria 2009 Business Summit."

The 120 000th article of Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) is "Bulgaria's PM 'Plays' with 2011 Presidential Bid" published on September 9, 2010.

On Monday, December 20, 2010, Novinite.com had its 100 000 000th page view.

In 2010, Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) launched its own applications for the users of iPod/iPad and Android devices.
