Bulgaria's President, Georgi Parvanov, declared Tuesday he is to remain impartial before and during the upcoming Presidential elections in November, 2011.

The President, who is near the end of his second and last term in office, answered a reporter's question, asking if he was going to nominate his successor for the post.

"I prefer to not take sides. This is the right thing to, I believe, unless the situation gets out of control and becomes very complex and dramatic. In any case, it would be better if the current Head of State does not offer opinions of who and how will succeed him," Parvanov, who is on an official trip to Austria Tuesday, said.

The President pointed out he would accept and applaud any person taking over his office because this would be the will of the Bulgarian people. He explained that according to him, there will be an abundance of candidates to run for the post.
