Her Majesty Elizabeth II, Queen of Britain, and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have prepared congratulatory messages for Bulgaria's National Day, which is on Thursday.

Her Majesty's Ambassador to Bulgaria Steve Williams conveyed the following National Day message from The Queen to the President Georgi Parvanov:

"On the occasion of your National Day, it gives me great pleasure in sending Your Excellency my warmest greetings, together with my best wishes for every success for the people of Bulgaria in the coming year."

"On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I congratulate the people of Bulgaria as you celebrate the 133rd anniversary of your independence this March 3," Hillary Clinton has said in her message, published on the US Embassy in Sofia's official website.

"The United States and Bulgaria are close allies, based on mutual respect and shared values.  We are working together to promote freedom and democracy around the world.  Your work to build a more peaceful and prosperous future for the Afghan people, and in helping your neighbors fully integrate into Euro-Atlantic institutions demonstrates your commitment to a safer, more secure world," the US Secretary of State has declared.
