21 Bulgarians Rescued from Libya by Romanian Aircraft

A group of Bulgarian citizens has been evacuated from Libya Sunday on board of a Romanian military aircraft.

The plane with 21 Bulgarian passengers has already landed in Bucharest. The group included a total of 68 people. In addition to Bulgarians, Romanian, Serbian and Slovenian citizens have also been rescued.

All Bulgarians are reported to be in good psychological and physical state. They have been met by the Bulgarian Consul in Bucharest, Yavor Stoyanov. Most will use taxi cabs to cross the Danube and reach the city of Ruse while 3 are awaiting the regular flight to Sofia Sunday afternoon, the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR reports

The majority of the passengers had worked in a chemical plant 120 km away from the Libyan capital Tripoli. Another 8 Bulgarians remain there on their own will.

A total of 33 Bulgarians have been transported from Libya on Romanian flights until now.

A second plane of the Romanian Defense Ministry is expected to land in Malta Sunday with more evacuated people from Libya.
