Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, rejected information he would be replaced by the Chair of the Parliamentary Internal Affair's Committee, Anastas Anastasov.

Anastasov also confirmed Tuesday the reports can be defined as rumors only.

Tsvetanov reiterated he has no plans of abdicating the post even over his increased responsibility as newly-selected Head of the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party campaign headquarters for the upcoming fall local and presidential elections.

The Minister bases his decision on the grounds of high marks received by Bulgaria's European partners.

The Interior Head pointed out the State Agency for National Security, DANS, does not enjoy such reputation over the involvement of its former employee and controversial businessman, Aleksei Petrov.
