The appointment of Interior Minister and Deputy PM Tsvetan Tsvetanov as head of the campaign headquarters of the ruling center-right party GERB is completely wrong, according to the rightist Blue Coalition.

"It is absurd for the ruling party in any democratic country to appoint its Interior Minister as head of its campaign headquarters," Ivan Kostov, co-leader of the rightist coalition, stated on Monday.

Last Wednesday, Tsvetanov was appointed the head of the campaign headquarters of GERB for the presidential and local elections in October 2011.

Tsvetanov, who is the second most important man in the cabinet and the GERB party, was selected to head the election efforts by GERB's Executive Commission. Tsvetanov's appointment is taken to mean that he will not be GERB's candidate for president of Bulgaria in the upcoming elections.

On Monday, Ivan Kostov also protested Prime Minister Boyko Borisov appointments at the newly established Center for Prevention of Organized Crime and Corruption (BORKOR).

He stated that his party does not support the new institution's Deputy Chairs Eleonora Nikolova and Petko Sertov and said that both of them are related to the notorious businessman and alleged mafia boss Aleksei Petrov aka the Octopus.

The rightist Blue Coalition initially supported GERB's government but has grown increasingly critical towards it.
