Chile's President Sebastian Pinera has thanked the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology for its support during the 2010 crisis with the 33 trapped miners, the Chamber announced Friday.

"I am convinced that the success of the rescue operation was achieved not just with the efforts of the authorities, rescue units, and the miners themselves but with the unity of the entire country. The feeling of support by millions of men and women from around the world also contributed to the happy ending," Pinera says in his letter, announced Ivan Andreev, head of the Bulgarian Chamber of Mining and Geology.

In August-September 2010, the Capiapo mining accident pinned global attention on the fate of the 33 miners which were rescued only after 69 days.
