Bulgarian citizens are getting increasingly irritated at the 'Tapegate' scandal over the past weeks, according to an opinion survey by Gallup International.

The support for the center-right GERB cabinet, including key figures in it, has continued its trend of plummetting, this time with 4 percentage points to 12%.

At the same time, one of four Bulgarians say they want the GERB cabinet to step down, according to the Gallup survey.

The support for PM Boyko Borisov has fallen with 6 percentage points, while Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov - the person most implicated in the Tapegate affair - has fallen down 5 points.

Gallup researchers comment that effects from the tapping scandal are growing and can continue to do so in the next months, for 35-40% of respondents have said that they have yet to form a full opinion on the issue.

At the same time, people disappointed by GERB do not seem to go over to other political parties, finds the study.

GERB has some 27% support, while main opposition party, the Bulgarian Socialist Party, around 16%. Other parties, except for the Movement of Rights and Freedoms (6%), have been found to hover around the electoral threshold of 3%.

More than half of Gallup respondents (53%) have stated that no matter the deficiencies of the GERB cabinet, at the moment they see no other party or coalition that can rule the country better.

The Bulgarian politician with the highest support is EU Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Kristalina Georgieva at 58%. She is followed by Minister of Regional Development Rosen Plevneliev. Ministers of Agriculture Miroslav Naydenov and of Economy Traicho Traikov have marked a growth of support.
