Bulgarian wrestling champion, Mihail Ganev, who was stabbed in a night club brawl in the central city of Gabrovo at the end of December, joined Wednesday the free-style wrestling training camp in the town of Teteven.

Coach, Simeon Shterev says he is optimistic about Ganev's recovery, but the training will not be as strenuous as for the other competitors.

Shterev says Ganev's participation in the European Wrestling Championship in March will depend only on the latter's will.

At the time of the incident, the wrestler received 5 stab-wounds with 2 of them – in the stomach and in the back – very serious.

According to reports, Ganev got involved in the brawl as he tried to prevent it and described him as a calm and cheerful person.

Mihail Ganev was born in 1985 in Veliko Tarnovo. He won the gold medal in freestyle wrestling (84 kg) last September at the World Championship in Moscow. In 2005 he got world gold in wrestling competing as a youth.
