Chechen Islamic Leader Claims Responsibility for Domodedovo Attack

Doku Umarov, the leader of a Chechen Islamic movement, has claimed responsibility for the the suicide terror attack at Russia's largest airport, Domodedovo, last month.

On January 24 2010, a 20-year-old man from North Caucasus killed 35 people and injured over 180 in a suicide bomb attack at the Moscow Domodedovo airport.

In a video posted on Monday and dated to, the day of the attack, Doku Umarov warns of more terror attacks unless Russia withdraws from the Caucasus, saying: "I want to tell the chauvinistic Russian regime that we can carry out a special operation wherever and whenever we want."

Umarov the self-proclaimed Emir of the Russian North Caucasus, which is an unrecognized Islamic state known as the Caucasus Emirate. He has also taken responsibility for the Moscow metro bombings in March 2010.
