Bulgarian Football Nationals Slip to 55th in FIFA Ranking

The Bulgarian national football team slipped two rankings in the monthly FIFA list to the 55th position.

The Bulgarians now have 555 points. The ranking is led by Spain with 1 887 points, followed by the Netherlands with 1723. Germany, the homeland of Bulgarian nationals coach, Lothar Mattheaus, is third with 1 485 points.

The Brits, who are Bulgaria's rival in the upcoming European Championship qualifiers, are 6th with 1 195 points.

From the other teams who will play against Bulgaria in the qualifiers, only Wales had regressed by 3 positions to the 116th ranking with 261 points. The others keep their rankings - Switzerland is 22nd with 841 points; Montenegro is 25th with 824 points.

The Asian champion, Japan, is now in the top 20, advancing by 12 positions to the 17th spot with 882.

The following teams are also ranked in the top 10 by FIFA: 4. Brazil (1 446), 5. Argentina (1 367), 7. Uruguay (1 152), 8. Portugal (1 090), 9. Croatia (1 075), 10. Greece (1 016).
