Bulgaria's ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party had purchased about 130 iPad tablets for all its ministers and Members of the Parliament.

The news was reported Wednesday by the Bulgarian news agency BTA, citing members of the cabinet.

The purchase was made on the grounds of replacing paper documentation used during the Council of Ministers meetings by electronic one in order to save on paper use.

Defense Minister, Anyu Angelov, is quoted saying the funds for the purchase came from the party's State subsidy.

The cabinet has 17 members, plus the Minister without Portfolio for Bulgarians Abroad, Bozhidar Dimitrov, who resigned in December but is yet to be released by the Parliament. GERB also has 117 MPs. The iPad price on the Bulgarian market varies from BGN 979 to BGN 1 850, depending on the model.

The tablets are still at the Council of Ministers to be configured and get ready to be used at the next week's meeting.
