Bulgarian-Turkish Border Closed Over Technical Difficulties

All three checkpoints on the Turkish-Bulgarian border have been closed for vehicles since 20:00 on Tuesday.

Neither cars no truck can get pass the Kapitan Andreevo, Lesovo and Malko Tarnovo border checkpoints due to technical difficulties on behalf of the Turkish side. The problem is expected to be removed later on Wednesday.

At 8:00 on Wednesday, there was a 6 km queue of vehicles at Kapitan Andreevo, while the other two checkpoints have not experienced significant inconveneinces.

The Turkish-Bulgarian border has been deemed crucial for Bulgaria's potential Schengen entry, as the last technical report has stated it is the country's main border security issue.
