Bulgaria Prime Minister Boyko Borisov witnessed the victory of the Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kaloyan Mahlyanov - Kotooshu in the last round of the year's first big sumo tournament in Japan.
Borisov, who is heading a high-level Bulgarian delegation in Japan, saw his compatriot win against the other strong European sumo wrestler, the Estonian Baruto in the last round of New Year Grand Sumo Tournament in Tokyo.
Thus, Kotooshu secured his tenth win in out of the 15 clashes in the prestigious tournament, which placed him fifth in the overall table.
The tournament was won by Hakuho, the Mongolian grand champion, who secured his sixth straight Emperor's Cup and 18th overall.
In the tournament's award ceremony, Borisov will give a special "Golden Bulgarian Rose" trophy to the winner.
During his visit to Japan, the Bulgarian Prime Minister is scheduled to confer with Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, the Chairman of Nippon Keidanren Hiromasa Yonekura and the management of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC).
