Bulgarian Kids Nail Gold, Silver Medals in International Math Olympiad

Bulgaria has ranked second only behind Russia in the International Olympiad on Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, which took place in Kazakhstan.

The team of the Sofia Mathematics High School "Paisiy Hilendarski" have arrived home after winning a total of two gold and three silver medals at the 7th edition of the prestigious "International Zhautykov Olympiad on Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science" of the Kazakh National University, which took place January 14-19, 2011.

The Bulgarian kids competed against 46 teams from 14 countries.

Vladislav Haralampiev has won gold in computer science, and Viktor Valov – in mathematics, while Radoslav Kafov and Daniel Dobrev won silver in mathematics, and Georgi Gergiev – in computer science.

Mariyana Todorova, the Principal of the Sofia Mathematics High School, one of the most prestigious high schools in Bulgaria, has described the achievements of the students as "brilliant."
