Bulgarians Abducted in Sudan Reported in Good Condition

The three Bulgarian pilots, who were abducted in Sudan, earlier Thursday are in good condition and their lives are not in danger, the company which employs them informs.

The Heli Air company, cited by the Bulgarian National Radio, BNR, says a contact was established with the three, who were working for the UN in Sudan.

The negotiations are led by a crisis team of local Sudanese authorities, the UN, and the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry. Negotiators are optimistic about the release of the pilots, who have the ststute of UN humanitarian workers.

There are no reported ransom demands. The abductors have only asked for bread and other basic staples.

The families have been notified while Heli Air is in constant touch with the three.

The company's CEO is appealing to the media to not announce the names of the pilots over safety concerns.

It is known they are three men with extensive experience in humanitarian missions in Sudan. They have been transporting food for UN staff. The latter managed to flee during the armed attack.
