Bulgaria's Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, has never been an agent of the former Communist State Security (DS), the Head of Bulgaria's Files Commission informs.

Evtim Konstantinov, the person in charge of Bulgaria's special panel investigating the Communist era files, says the Minister worked at the Interior Ministry's Central Informational and Organizational Directorate on a labor contract, dismissing accusations of Tsvetanov's affiliation with DS as non-sense.

"Tsvetanov has been an agent as much as the cook of Communist dictator, Todor Zhivkov," Kostadinov is quoted saying.

Earlier Thursday, the Bulgarian opposition Socialist party (BSP) accused the Interior Minister of having started his career within the DS structures since the Directorate, at the time he began work there, was part of DS.
