Charges Filed in Notorious Bulgarian Sisters Murder Case

The Pazardzhik District Prosecutor's office has filed charges against Lazar Kolev for the gruesome murder and rape of the Belneyski sisters that has been shaking Bulgaria for some years now.

The murder and rape of the two teenage girls was determined to have happened January 28, 2006, but since then the case has dragged about, with uncertainty of evidence and suspects.

The charges against the 30-year-old include murder and rape of the two girls in a "particularly gruesome fashion that was extremely painful to the victims."

The case will be heard by two judges and three-member jury.
