Bulgaria is expected to have at least 2% GDP growth for 2011, according to economic analysts, but it might be even higher given adequate measures on the part of the cabinet.

Georgi Angelov from the Open Society institute stated that according to him the most optimistic scenario is that of 6-7% GDP growth, while the worst possible case will range around 1%.

He expressed regret that the government has not realized an alleged potential for 4-5% growth in 2010 due to lack of reforms and increased budget deficit, which has lead to next to 0% growth.

Another economic analyst, Krasen Stanchev, also expressed confidence that Bulgaria will effect a 2% increase in GDP in 2011, but also commented that that will happen without any connection with the efforts of the government.

The official forecast of Minister of Economy Traicho Traikov is for a 2-3.6% GDP growth. The 2011 state budget includes a growth of 3.6%.
