The Bulgarian ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) will probably start its own newspaper by the end of February 2011.

This was announced Tuesday by the party's spokesperson Kamen Kostadinov, who clarified that the technical aspects of the paper are currently being prepared.

"Even though the society believes that newspapers are already dying out in favor of the electronic media, our analysis shows that it is just a paper we need right now," Kostadinov stated.

The upcoming local elections are seen as DPS's highest priority, even though it is too early for the party to hold clear positions, according to Kamen Kostadinov.

DPS is lead by Ahmed Dogan, who was acquitted of corruption in a case brought by the Parliamentary Commission regarding consulting fees paid in 2008 and 2009 in respect of hydro-power projects. The trial against him will continue on January 27 2011.
