Bulgaria’s PM Boyko Borisov and US Secretary of State, Hilary Clinton, have confirmed the bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries.

Borisov and Clinton met at the inauguration ceremony of the new Brazilian President, the Bulgaria-descended Dilma Rousseff.

Energy was the main topic in the discussion between the Bulgarian and US leaders. Clinton expressed support for the efforts of the Bulgarian government to diversify its energy sources.

The US Secretary of State also accepted the invitation to visit Bulgaria in 2011.

Borisov led the Bulgarian delegation, which attended Rousseff's inauguration as Brazil's 36 President. He was the only EU state leader, together with the Spanish Prince Felipe and the Prime Minister of Portugal.

On December 30, 2010, Dilma broke the protocol and received the Bulgarian delegation two days in advance.
