Hundreds of thousands Russians are left with no electricity and communications are stalled after a cold front with ice and snow flooded the country.

Interfax reports that some 180,000 residents of the Central Federal District in about 1,100 towns have their electricity cut. Massive repair works are underway.

RIA Novosti has reported of a halt in work of the Domodedovo airport in Moscow for some hours in the morning and early afternoon due to a power cut.

Currently the airport is slowly resuming work, servicing internal flights, while check-in is being done manually.
