The night club "Hysteria" in Bulgaria's second largest city of Plovdiv was set on fire early Wednesday, the police reported.

The club was closed and there are no reported injuries, but the fire totaled several booths inside, the ceiling, 6 air conditioners, 2 cash registers, and other equipment.

The call to the fire department was placed at 2:25 am.

The reasons are still investigated, however, there are strong suspicions of arson. Witnesses say they saw two masked men breaking the door and throwing Molotov cocktails inside. The club management says the fire was caused by a faulty short circuit.

Darik radio reports, citing their own, unnamed source, the fire was an attack against the club's owner – Plovdiv businessman, Atanas Stanchev. In the beginning of December, two "Mercedes" cars belonging to Stanchev were set on fire in front of his house. The businessman blamed the competition for the incident.

"Hysteria" just opened doors two months ago.
