200 Bulgarians Stuck at London Airports Come Home

Two airplanes, each with about 100 Bulgarians, who remained stuck at London Heathrow Airport for five days, landed during the night at the Sofia International Airport.

The first flight of Bulgarian Air was regular and it landed at midnight Monday. The second one was emergency flight and it carried Bulgarians who have been stuck for about a week at the London airport or in hotels.

According to information from the passengers, there are about 60 more Bulgarians, who remained in London, but who have been transported to London Luton Airport and are expected to leave from there to Bulgaria.

The passengers have also complained about the lack of information about the situation at the airports in London.

On Monday afternoon, British Airways canceled all flights for close destinations and some of the flights for far destinations. The company is reportedly losing about GBP 10 M per day.

On Tuesday, London Heathrow Airport announced it will operate on reduced flight schedule.

Transport in the UK in general remains seriously hampered by the snow and the low temperatures. Tens of thousands of passengers remain trapped in other parts of Europe as well, where airports are closed due to the bad weather.

The Brussels Airport will remain closed until Wednesday. Thousands of people spent another night at the airports in Frankfurt and Paris.

Planes take off with huge delays and many companies are even canceling flights. People have become more and more irritated because many of them will not be able to go home for the holidays.
